Floods in Belgium - January 2011

Early january 2011, snow thaws combined with rain downpours were reported to have caused significant flooding in Wallonie, southern Belgium. The Namur and Luxembourg provinces have been particularly hit.

The main rivers have risen and were blocking many roads and homes have been flooded.

The SAFER's focal point was activated on 9 January 2011 by the Service Public de Wallonie. During the period between 9 and 11 January, SAFER produced 3 flood extent maps.
