On 1 May 2011 major heath fires were reported in the region of North-Holland (Netherlands), near Schoorl. More than 160 firemen and several helicopters were involved in firefighting operations.
SAFER was triggered on 2 May 2011.
Based on based on multispectral data acquired by GeoEye-1 (spatial resolution of 0.5m), a Disaster Extent Detail Map showing the area that was burnt was produced on 5 May 2011.
