Specific Situation Maps

In addition to damage assessment maps, several maps addressing more specific items such as airports or harbours were produced.

Port-Au-Prince International Airport (G-MOSAIC)
Port-Au-Prince Harbour (G-MOSAIC)

The above maps have been completed by "Briefing Notes", which consist in a more detailed analysis of the situation.

A briefing note addresses the Port-Au-Prince Harbour. It indicates for instance which parts of the harbour (e.g. quays, wharfs, cranes) have been destroyed or are still serviceable.

Two other briefing notes address the Toussaint L'Ouverture International Airport and the Jacmel Airfield respectively. They describe activities (e.g. presence of helicopters, airliners), facilities (e.g. number and type of runways, operation and support buildings), and indicate whether damages such as ground cracks or collapsed building are visible or not. Briefing notes also provide information on the access to the airports (e.g. roads, gates).

Briefing notes are based on GeoEye or Worldview 2 multispectral images, which have been combined with open source collateral information.
