On 9 October 2008, Hungary accomplished the last procedure for becoming a full member of EUMETSAT (the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites). Consequently, Hungary can now participate fully in EUMETSAT’s decision-making process, has unlimited access to all EUMETSAT data and products, and its industry can bid for contracts.
Hungary is the fourth Cooperating State to become a full member, after Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia. With the accession of Hungary, EUMETSAT contains now 22 full Member States and 8 Cooperating States, among which Poland and Latvia shall become full Member States in early 2009.
