DeCOVER is a national demonstration project promoted by DLR with the support of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
Aim of DeCOVER is to design a cost-effective system of land-cover capture and update for the whole of Germany with the appropriate accuracy coping with the thematic and spatial requirements of Länder and federal needs. Large area applicability of the system has to be demonstrated.
Moreover, experiences gained from the European GMES activities and requirements from the INSPIRE initiative as well as from the German spatial data infrastructure (GDI-DE®) to public spatial data management will be dealt with.
The GMES Office Bremen (GOB) is a joint initiative between private companies, the Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP) of the University of Bremen and the Senate of Bremen. The GOB is developing a consistent concept for a GMES Service Centre in Bremen. Main tasks of the GOB are:
- Identify and initiate GMES pilot projects and propose a concept for a GMES Service Centre in Bremen,
- Regional, national and european networking of competencies and capabilities,
- Identify and contact potential GMES users,
- Evaluate service concepts with agencies (DLR, ESA), public organizations and the GMES bureau of the EC.
