Introduction
The 3rd Forum has been held in Athens from 4th to 6th June 2003.
3rd Forum programme and participants
The first and the second Forum, as well as the GMES Marine Forum, were specifically designed to contribute to establish the state of the art of the issues facing the production of information for European environment and security policies.
The 3rd GMES Forum has been organised jointly by the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology, the European Commission and the European Space Agency. It consisted in presentations and discussions of:
- The current results from the Initial period of the GMES Action Plan, i.e. Cross-cutting Assessments, Thematic Projects and ESA GSE, as well as GSC Working Groups and other relevant activities;
- The orientations and domains of action for the Implementation Period (2004-2008) of the GMES Action Plan.
A particular attention has been put on stimulating the participation of information users in order to discuss the extent to which the end-users requirements for information are met and to identify the actions to be taken to improve the situation.
